WHY KDOMPI EXISTS?

Cambodia is the second-largest cashew producer on earth. Over ninety per cent of that crop leaves the country raw, is processed somewhere else, and reaches your shelf under a different name.
The same has been true of our rice and our pepper for decades. World-class, and anonymous. Not because the quality was not there — because for thirty years this country had other things to survive, and by the time it was ready to trade, the shelf had been taken.

WHERE THE NAME COMES FROM
Generations ago a Cambodian community gave the title ក្ដុម្ពី to a family who, having built themselves from nothing, spent their lives helping the farmers around them. Those who prosper — not only in wealth, but in purpose.
The Khmer Rouge ended that work. Our co-founder is descended from them, and this is her family's name returned to the job it was given for.
